Introducing Endpoint Pools: Load balance anything, anywhere

ngrok has introduced a new feature called Endpoint Pooling that simplifies load balancing by allowing multiple endpoints to share the same URL, automatically balancing traffic among them. This feature enables users to manage cloud-native workloads across different networks, regions, and cloud providers without the need for extensive configuration, as endpoints dynamically register and deregister themselves from the pool. Endpoint Pooling supports all types of endpoints, including those created via CLI, SDKs, and Kubernetes Operators, and balances traffic at different layers depending on the protocol. The feature is available on all non-legacy paid plans, initially at no extra cost, and allows users to scale their infrastructure by adding up to 1000 endpoints per pool. Furthermore, Endpoint Pools integrate with Traffic Policy to enable safe and incremental configuration changes, and they support geo-aware global balancing for optimized performance. Custom load balancing strategies are expected in the future, and users are encouraged to explore documentation and guides for further guidance.
