New Relic has released a next-generation runtime for synthetic monitoring, which includes updated features and functionalities to test user flows in production environments and detect performance issues before they impact end-users' experience. The new runtime supports the latest version of Chrome (version 100) and unlocks testing of modern applications requiring newer Chrome versions. It also introduces improved synthetic runtime capabilities, including async/await support, a custom timing library, and customizable scripted monitor types that cover additional protocols. Additionally, New Relic is introducing NerdGraph API to manage all monitor types, secure credentials, and private locations, making it easier to simplify workflow and track application performance. The update aims to minimize changes needed for users to migrate their current monitors and provides a quick migration process through the new runtime or NerdGraph API.
