Introducing Advanced APM: Connecting Telemetry to Business Outcomes
Blog post from New Relic
New Relic’s Advanced APM bundle is presented as an intelligence-led observability offering intended to help enterprise engineering, SRE, and DevOps teams move from reactive incident response to proactive performance management. It combines Transaction 360, which automatically maps end-to-end dependencies across applications, databases, infrastructure, and frontend systems, with Intelligent Workloads, which maintains dynamic business entities as cloud environments change, and custom business KPI tracking that connects technical degradation to measures such as checkout duration, abandoned carts, and revenue risk. Its Performance Risks Inbox continuously identifies coding and database anti-patterns, including N+1 queries and slow SQL, before they trigger alerts or outages, while providing remediation guidance. The platform also uses nested health rollups and longer-term transaction-flow retention to help teams identify hidden failures, analyze degradation over time, and reduce mean time to resolution. New Relic positions these capabilities as particularly relevant for ephemeral cloud architectures and AI-driven workloads, arguing that they can reduce diagnostic effort, protect service-level agreements, and align reliability work with business outcomes.
