How Workiva Takes Observability to a New Level with Custom Apps on New Relic One

Workiva has enhanced its operational efficiency and observability by adopting New Relic One as a unified platform to monitor its AWS-based services and applications, aiming to simplify toolsets and provide comprehensive system insights. The observability team, established 18 months ago, guides this transition to ensure effective monitoring and reporting, leveraging New Relic's capabilities to extend and customize applications for unique needs. Custom-built apps enable granular monitoring of service availability, AWS, and Kubernetes resources, integrating these insights into KPI reports for executive leadership. These tools, coupled with smoke tests and a testing suite, improve uptime and operational efficiency by allowing rapid issue identification and resolution. Workiva is also exploring further applications, such as New Relic One Cloud Optimize for cost tracking and integrating the New Relic Terraform Provider to streamline CI/CD processes. Looking ahead, Workiva plans to expand the use of New Relic One to enhance customer experience by further leveraging its programmable platform.
