Summary

We migrated our custom Kubernetes clusters to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) to simplify deployment and management, leveraging a stable managed control plane, virtual private cloud isolation, and identity and access management features. We use templates with Terraform and CloudFormation to automate infrastructure deployment, rolling updates, and lifecycle hooks for instance termination, while controlling costs by utilizing Amazon EC2 Spot instances. To gain clear visibility within the cluster, we employ New Relic Kubernetes cluster explorer and APM 360, providing insights into EKS infrastructure, application performance, and infrastructure issues. With these changes, our DevOps teams can deploy software faster, monitor infrastructure health, and reduce infrastructure costs.
