Export to CSV, JSON and XLSX from the Neon console

Neon has introduced new features in its SQL Editor, allowing users to export query results in CSV, JSON, and XLSX formats directly from the console, enhancing usability and convenience. These features eliminate the need for external tools like psql for data export, with CSV being the most straightforward due to its widespread compatibility. JSON offers a flexible interchange format, while XLSX provides a native Excel file format, saving users from manual formatting tasks typically required after a CSV download. The implementation of these features involved challenges, such as maintaining numerical precision in CSV and JSON formats and addressing Excel-specific quirks, like its unique date system and XML structure for XLSX files. Additionally, the development process led to the creation of open-source libraries, "littlezipper" for ZIP file creation and "xlsxtable" for Excel worksheet handling, both of which are available on npm and GitHub.
