Databuddy is a new privacy-focused web and product analytics platform that combines power and simplicity, drawing inspiration from tools like Plausible and PostHog, and is designed to be developer-friendly and fully open source. Built on Neon, a serverless Postgres platform, Databuddy benefits from Neon's high performance and ease of use, eliminating the complexities of self-hosting. The platform's tech stack includes a frontend built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, an API layer using Elysia and tRPC, and an ORM layer managed by Drizzle. The database layer utilizes Neon for structured metadata and ClickHouse for handling raw events and analytical data. By participating in the Neon Open Source Program, Databuddy receives support to scale its operations. The architecture is designed to be simple and effective, with Neon managing transactional processes and ClickHouse handling heavy analytical queries, allowing developers to customize their setup.
