You can now top up your n8n Assistant credits

n8n Cloud Starter and Pro users can now purchase optional Assistant-credit top-ups after exhausting their monthly allowance, avoiding the need to wait for the monthly reset or upgrade plans. Credits can be added manually or through configurable automatic top-ups with monthly spending caps, while included credits are used first and purchased credits carry over for up to 12 months. A new Cloud dashboard tab provides balances, usage trends, top users, and purchase history, and the editor displays conversation-level usage and low-balance warnings. n8n has also revised monthly allowances and moved users to a more capable, efficient model with standardized credit values across paid plans. Usage varies by request complexity, from roughly 10–20 credits for simple questions to 300–600 for extensive workflow development and debugging, with specific prompts generally requiring fewer credits. Credits are shared across each instance, only owners can top up, and they cover Assistant conversations rather than workflow execution or Gateway model calls; free trials receive 800 one-time credits, while self-hosted users rely on their own model-provider accounts.
