Introducing n8n 3.0
Blog post from n8n
n8n 3.0.0 Beta is available as of October 27, with a stable 3.x release planned for early December, focusing on reliability, stability, security, and removal of accumulated legacy features rather than new functionality. Major changes include running manual queue-mode executions on workers, replacing in-memory binary storage, reducing default Code node timeouts and decompression limits, adopting the Schedule Trigger over legacy Cron and Interval nodes, strengthening security defaults, and requiring Docker for self-hosted installations while leaving Kubernetes and Helm deployments unaffected. The release removes or retires several legacy nodes and features, often providing replacements or automatic migrations, while workflows and settings affected by the upgrade can be identified through the Migration Report available in version 2.39 and later. Users are advised to update to the latest 2.x release, resolve or dismiss report findings, back up their instances, test upgrades in staging, and note that migration to 3.x cannot be rolled back without restoring a backup. After 3.x becomes stable, version 2.x will receive security and critical bug fixes for 12 months, while users on 1.x must first upgrade to 2.x before moving to 3.x.
