Build n8n workflows with Gemini 4 Argon: MCP, the Assistant, and Agents
Blog post from n8n
n8n has integrated Google’s Gemini 4 Argon model, enabling users to incorporate it into existing and new automation workflows through several approaches. Its built-in Model Context Protocol server lets MCP-compatible chat tools, coding agents, and IDEs create and test n8n workflows from natural-language requests while requiring user approval before publishing. The n8n Assistant can build, edit, test, and debug workflows conversationally, with self-hosted users able to connect Gemini through OpenRouter or Google’s OpenAI-compatible endpoint using their own API keys, while n8n Cloud uses Assistant and Gateway credits. Gemini 4 Argon is also available in n8n AI Agents and the standalone Google Gemini node, allowing agents to choose among approved tools, APIs, and sub-workflows to handle less structured tasks such as reviewing support emails, consulting CRM and help-center information, drafting replies, and escalating cases when needed.
