Our next pricing lever: Baseline on-demand assets with free video encoding

Mux has introduced baseline video assets as an alternative encoding tier for on-demand videos, offering cost-effective solutions for simpler streaming use cases where high encoding costs may be restrictive to businesses. Baseline assets are built on the same infrastructure as smart assets and include features such as best-in-class streaming video infrastructure, premium multi-CDN delivery, free Mux Data monitoring, and Mux Player. However, there are some limitations with baseline assets, including fewer renditions, lower maximum visual quality, and unavailable features like MP4 support and auto-generated captions. Baseline assets are available to all pay-as-you-go customers today, and more pricing levers are in development.
