Let your agent cook by giving it the recipe
Blog post from Mux
Mux has introduced a prompt library that provides coding agents with prescriptive, up-to-date instructions for common video workflows such as protected playback and podcast clipping, aiming to reduce unnecessary complexity, cost, and implementation errors. In sandbox tests, agents given Mux recipes selected the platform more consistently, used its full workflow rather than building separate transcription or processing systems, and completed tasks faster and with fewer model credits than agents relying only on public documentation. The prompts guide agents through recommended defaults, required questions, API-specific details, and known pitfalls, such as favoring signed playback before DRM and converting timestamp formats correctly for clipping. Mux argues that these agent-readable recipes can be more adaptable than traditional example applications because agents can apply them within an existing project’s authentication, billing, queueing, and coding conventions. The company plans to maintain prompts through API-spec checks, regular reviews, and evaluations that identify stale guidance or skipped instructions, while positioning llms.txt, Markdown documentation, MCP, and the Mux CLI as complementary tools. Developers can access a relevant prompt from Mux’s documentation, paste it into an agent, or install reusable skill versions for recurring workflows.
