Why Telcos Implement TM Forum Open APIs with MongoDB
Blog post from MongoDB
TM Forum Open APIs have been adopted by many of the world's largest communication service providers (CSPs) and software provider ecosystem, with MongoDB playing a significant role in their implementation. The use of TMF Open APIs allows CSPs to adopt a modular architecture made up of best-of-breed components while minimizing integration time and cost. The MongoDB document model enables developers to work with data naturally and store it as it is retrieved by the application, persisting TMF resources 1:1 in the database without additional mappings. This flexibility allows CSPs to achieve agility and innovate at the same time, enabling them to build new microservices in days instead of weeks or months. With MongoDB's support for full-stack digital BSS and flexible querying capabilities, CSPs can rapidly develop TMF-compliant microservices and query data flexibly using TMF specifications. Additionally, MongoDB's distributed transaction capabilities provide a database-level solution for business processes such as customer creation, reducing the need for atomic transactions in relational databases.
