Cloud Provider Snapshots on AWS have been introduced for MongoDB Atlas replica sets, providing fully managed backup storage and recovery using the native snapshot capabilities of the underlying cloud service provider. This feature offers incremental backup functionality, minimizing the time it takes to create a snapshot and lowering costs by reducing duplicate data. The new feature is available for M10 clusters or higher in all 15 AWS regions where MongoDB Atlas can be deployed, including Singapore and Mumbai. Additionally, free and affordable database cluster sizes are now available in these regions, starting from $9 per month for the M2 cluster size. This move aims to lower the barrier to entry for developers and allow them to focus on building apps without worrying about database deployment or management.
