The MongoDB rover, powered by MongoDB Mobile, Stitch, and AWS Kinesis, was showcased at AWS re:Invent, where attendees used a JavaScript web app to control the rover via MongoDB Stitch QueryAnywhere. The commands were stored in MongoDB Atlas and synced to the rover's local database whenever it was contactable. Stitch Mobile Sync ensured all commands were automatically written to the rover's mobile database and updated back to Atlas. The rover also recorded environmental sensor data, which was synced to AWS Kinesis for analysis. The demo showcased the reliability of the system, even in situations with lost connectivity, and marked a significant step forward for remote control of Mars rovers.
