The Italian government has launched a new cloud computing platform called "Cloud Italiano" or "Polo Strategico Nazionale" (PSN), which aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the public administration and provide a secure, efficient, and continuous infrastructure for data management. The PSN is designed with the principles of multicloud, innovation, and security, and will offer a single system of identity digitale to citizens, improving their daily lives. MongoDB has been chosen as the NoSQL database solution due to its flexibility, ability to handle high data volumes, and ease of use, making it an essential service for the new cloud platform. The migration of critical services to the PSN involves over 280 administrations, including central government agencies, health organizations, and local authorities, with the goal of ensuring Italy's leadership in digital infrastructure and data management.
