MongoDB 1.6 Released is a major release that focuses on scale-out capabilities, including production-ready sharding and replica sets. This allows for building horizontally scalable data storage clusters with no single points of failure. The new release also includes improvements in acknowledged replication, $or queries, support for UNIX domain sockets and IPv6, as well as Windows service enhancements. Additionally, the C++ client is now a separate tarball from the binaries.
