The Diversity Scholarship program at MongoDB World 2016 aimed to support members of underrepresented groups in technology. Nine recipients were selected from over 100 applications from more than 25 countries, and they attended MongoDB World to learn about the opportunities and challenges in their respective fields. The scholars come from diverse backgrounds, including women in tech, LatinX individuals, African students, and freelance developers. They share how they started using MongoDB and what their giant ideas are - ranging from improving e-learning access in Africa to building a system that assists people who need car loans by removing the middle man. MongoDB contributes towards these ideas by providing a database that simplifies data storage and retrieval, enabling scalability and performance improvements.
