Dan Pasette is currently the VP of Engineering for the Server Team at MongoDB. He previously held roles in commercial and community support, field services, and internal and external education before moving to the Server team. Dan is an avid surfer who started a project to store records of surfing sessions using MongoDB. He enjoys biking to work and values learning from others. As VP of Engineering, his role involves coordinating with other teams on integrating new features and supporting existing ones, monitoring ongoing engineering efforts, and recruiting junior engineers. Dan loves working in a close-knit environment with the best engineers in the field and values learning. Delegating is one of the most challenging aspects of his job. He has had rewarding experiences such as mentoring an intern from Hack NY who later became a full-time engineer at MongoDB. In his free time, Dan enjoys reading post-apocalyptic literature and playing falsa (fake salsa) dancing.
