Leafblower`, a real-time dashboard platform built by the Australian duo Andy Sharman and Josh Stevenson, won the MongoDB Global March Madness Hackathon with its focus on bleeding-edge application analytics and monitoring. The platform aims to help campaign managers and system administrators react quickly to ever-changing trends and traffic spikes in their applications. Leafblower uses MongoDB as its storage engine, taking advantage of its flexible schema to capture and report data samples as they happen, rather than relying on historical analysis. The project is currently running on a Linux/Apache/MongoDB/PHP/Node.JS system, but can be easily swapped out for other operating systems and web servers. Leafblower's goal is to provide a customizable platform that allows users to extend its functionality with minimal prior knowledge of MongoDB's data storage and passing mechanisms. The project plans to implement features such as user profiles, easier setup and installation, and advanced analytics blocks in future releases.
