A leading telecommunications company, Swisscom, has developed its Application Cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) using an open-standards based stack including Cloud Foundry, Docker, MongoDB Enterprise Advanced, and ScaleIO. The platform allows developers to build cloud-native microservices on a highly scalable and secure PaaS. Swisscom chose MongoDB due to its large community and customer demand in the verticals that constitute their main customer base. The Application Cloud hosts thousands of cloud-native applications, including those built with MongoDB, which provides non-relational data storage. The platform offers both public and virtual private offerings, with data stored in Switzerland on Swisscom's own network. Swisscom uses Flocker to persist stateful services, such as MongoDB, and provides 24x7 proactive support from MongoDB through their Enterprise Advanced subscription.
