The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) uses MongoDB to manage the vast amounts of data generated by its particle physics experiments. The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment relies on MongoDB's flexible data model and rich query language to provide a single view of data from various backend data-services, enabling researchers to easily discover and extract information they need for their research. This allows scientists to accelerate scientific research and discovery, with the ability to query and combine data from all data-services in real-time. The deployment of MongoDB on commodity hardware provides efficient information discovery within a heterogeneous environment, while its dynamic schema and secondary indexes enable fast and flexible access to data by any query pattern.
