China Eastern Airlines, one of the world's top 5 airlines by passenger volume, has migrated from Oracle to MongoDB to deliver a world-class customer experience. The airline industry is growing rapidly with revenues tripling in just 10 years, forcing airlines to provide a differentiated customer experience and drive out cost. China Eastern Airlines used MongoDB to improve how passengers search, discover, and book flights on their web and mobile properties, achieving significant cost savings, improved developer efficiency, and building an application that was not possible on Oracle. The airline's deployment environment includes a single replica set with high scale-up performance, and they use MongoDB Ops Manager for provisioning and monitoring. They also use MongoDB Enterprise Advanced for reduced risk and 24x7 support. China Eastern Airlines plans to expand their MongoDB deployment to a multi-data center setup in the future.
