Today, MongoDB announced several significant updates to its developer data platform, including the general availability of MongoDB 5.0, serverless instances on MongoDB Atlas, and major enhancements to Atlas Data Lake, Atlas Search, and Realm Sync. The new release of MongoDB 5.0 includes native support for time series workloads, improved future-proofing capabilities with a versioned API, and enhanced privacy and security controls. Serverless instances on MongoDB Atlas allow developers to automatically get the database resources they need without having to think about capacity management. Additionally, MongoDB Charts is now integrated with Atlas Data Lake, enabling users to easily visualize JSON data stored in Amazon AWS S3. The new MongoDB Shell provides a modern command-line experience with enhanced usability features and powerful scripting environment. Furthermore, Atlas Search has several new capabilities for building rich end user experiences, including function scoring and collections of synonyms. Realm Sync is now available on Unity, allowing developers to store and interact with native objects directly.
