The benefits of leveraging operational data to build new digital products and services are numerous, but many companies struggle to overcome the challenges associated with digital transformation. These challenges include integrating multiple back-end systems, third-party integration issues, and managing SaaS products. To address these issues, a decentralized approach using low-code/no-code platforms, modern graphical interfaces, and data hubs can simplify implementation. Data hubs collect data from different sources, providing computational decoupling, catalog and discoverability, and security benefits. Joyce, a data hub platform, uses schemas to shape ingested data and provides features such as input, model, and export capabilities. It relies on MongoDB for flexibility and performance at scale, running in a Kubernetes cluster with a stateless architecture based on the CQRS pattern. Ultimately, there is no silver bullet for digital transformation, but making informed choices and empowering teams can lead to successful outcomes.
