Summary

I was lucky enough to go to a high school where everyone had to take Intro to Computer Science their sophomore year and had the option to continue taking Computer Science classes all the way through to graduation. I loved that very first intro class, which sparked my interest in coding and led me to pursue a CS major at NYU. As a woman in Computer Science, I've been part of groups like Rewriting the Code and NYU Women in Computing, which have given me opportunities to connect with other women in tech and participate in initiatives aimed at increasing diversity in the field. The MongoDB Women in Computer Science Summit was an incredible experience that allowed me to network with peers from colleges across the country, participate in technical development, mock interviews, and a panel discussion, and ultimately led me to join MongoDB as a full-time employee after completing my internship. I'm now part of the Swift Driver team, where I've worked on adding Extended JSON support to the pure-Swift BSON Library, and have learned about the importance of open-source projects and ecosystems in language development. Throughout my experience, I've been impressed by the culture at MongoDB, which emphasizes being open, fun, and feedback-focused, even in a remote internship setting.
