Amy Berman, Cybersecurity Education and Advocacy Lead at MongoDB, has spoken about how her dyslexia has helped her build a successful career. Dyslexia is a language processing disorder that affects people differently, and Amy was diagnosed in high school after years of struggling to keep up with standardized testing scores. She enrolled in a summer program where she relearned how to read and write, and developed skills such as decoding different syllables and using mind-body exercises to study. Despite initial worries about being open about her dyslexia at work, Amy found that her unique thinking style and problem-solving abilities were assets in the workplace. She has since worked on various projects, including building out event content strategy teams and leading product marketing go-to-market solutions for MongoDB University. Amy's new role as Cybersecurity Education and Advocacy Lead involves ensuring that both internal employees and external customers have access to educational resources and awareness to make MongoDB successful.
