Honoring Black History Month is a celebration of the history, legacies, achievements, and contributions of the Black community in the United States. It's not just 28 or 29 days to reflect on the countless contributions of African American culture to society, but a lifestyle that embodies the values of intellectual honesty and psychological safety prioritized by MongoDB. Three members of TUPOC, an affinity group at MongoDB, share their personal experiences and perspectives on what Black History Month means to them, highlighting the importance of community, resilience, and hope in the face of adversity. They emphasize that Black history is not contained within a month, but is being made and celebrated every day. By honoring Black History Month, individuals can learn more about the lives of their ancestors, appreciate the achievements of Black people, and forge their own identity by embracing joy, laughter, and hope.
