This is a story about how DWP Digital, the UK's Department for Work and Pensions' digital team, partnered with MongoDB to tackle some of the country's biggest challenges, including unemployment in Manchester. A hackathon was organized called Hack the North, where over 70 developers were brought together to find solutions to address unemployment issues using available data from public sources such as Churchill, built on MongoDB. The event was a roaring success, with impressive final solutions presented by teams, and highlighted DWP Digital's commitment to developer-centric innovation, agile development, and customer-focused services. The partnership also showcases how MongoDB is being used in powerful ways by the organization, and demonstrates the importance of developers in driving social impact and business success.
