MongoDB Atlas has introduced multi-cloud clusters, allowing customers to distribute their data across multiple cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. This enables cross-cloud security with protocols and controls from each provider, ensuring that data is securely stored and accessed regardless of the chosen cloud. Customers can create network peering connections and private endpoints for secure access within each cloud environment, and integrate with cloud key management services (KMS) for additional encryption control. Additionally, customers can leverage global clusters to shard their data across geographic zones and comply with data residency regulations, such as GDPR, by storing EU customer data in a specific region. This multi-cloud strategy provides best-in-class data security and operations, intuitive admin controls, and future-proof applications.
