The Queer Collective is a member-based group within MongoDB that works towards equality in the workplace and beyond, aiming to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable bringing their full selves to work. The group was formed in 2020 by a call for volunteers to organize virtual Pride celebrations throughout June, and has since grown to almost 200 members globally, with plans to start regional chapters. The Queer Collective organizes social, educational, and awareness events, including Pride programming, coming out days, and training on managing and supporting LGBTQIA+ employees. Participating in the group has provided visibility, education, and networking opportunities for its members, as well as allies who support them. The group's biggest highlight so far was their ambitious Pride 2021 program, which included educational training, voguing workshops, and virtual happy hours. The Queer Collective aims to foster intersectional cooperation with other affinity groups, collaborate with teams and departments across the business, and develop partnerships externally to extend its work beyond MongoDB.
