MongoDB Atlas has made its Full-Text Search service available on all free and shared tiers, including M0, M2, and M5 clusters. This feature allows users to build simple search capabilities on top of their cloud data without the need for a separate search platform. It's fully managed, easy to get started with, and based on Apache Lucene 8, providing a rich and diverse feature set optimized for natural language search. Users can now test Full-Text Search on free or shared tier clusters, supporting up to 3, 5, or 10 search indexes per collection, respectively. To get started, users simply need to create a free cluster, load data into it, and build a search index in three clicks using the Atlas UI. The service also supports date and numerical ranges, giving users the ability to query a wider variety of data types. With this new feature, MongoDB aims to democratize search capabilities for everyone, making it easy to find what they need without duplicating infrastructure and operational costs.
