MongoDB Atlas now allows users to create database users with privileges scoped to specific clusters or Data Lakes within an Atlas project, providing more granular control over user access and flexibility for use cases that previously required centralized management. This update enables customers to restrict database access by environment, isolate teams working on different microservices, and grant other users limited access to Atlas Data Lakes for analytics purposes. The new functionality builds upon existing built-in roles or custom roles, maintaining the same authentication mechanisms and features as before, while allowing admins to modify user settings at any point.
