Barrie Segal is the Project Manager for the Developer Experience team at MongoDB, overseeing a team of 35 people. He previously worked as a Support Engineer and learned about MongoDB through a friend who founded a company using it. Segal has no prior experience with MongoDB before joining the company but learned through trial and error and exploiting his coworkers' patience. His role has evolved from focusing on community support to managing multiple projects across different teams. Segal enjoys working on products that fulfill real needs, values the sense of smallness within a rapidly growing organization, and appreciates the opportunity to work with various teams. He finds the most rewarding experience is seeing the Sydney and Dublin offices come online, providing global support to customers. When not working, Segal enjoys bike rides, dance classes, and attending shows, often finding humor in unexpected situations.
