According to Danielle James, one of MongoDB's most passionate team members and advocates for diversity, true diversity means having a unique group of individuals with different experiences and perspectives. She noticed this early in her career when she was the only black woman at MongoDB and struggled to find her footing due to similarities among colleagues. To address this issue, Danielle created the MongoDB Diversity Scholarship program, which sends underrepresented groups to tech events and provides mentorship opportunities. The program has been successful in creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace culture at MongoDB.
