The cloud computing "chasm" has been crossed by large enterprises as almost half of them have migrated on-premises workloads to the public cloud, driven primarily by benefits in time to market. This milestone marks a significant shift towards cloud-centric strategies and is expected to play a strong role in an organization's ability to execute and its longevity in the market. As more heavily-regulated industries adopt public cloud usage, concerns over security are waning, but other barriers such as vendor lock-in and limited access to talent with cloud deployment skills are becoming apparent. To mitigate these challenges, enterprises are increasingly turning to managed cloud offerings.
