Crittercism, a mobile application performance management solution, uses MongoDB to collect and store large amounts of unstructured data from various applications, resulting in significant growth over 18 months, with daily request volume increasing 40 times. To manage this growth, Crittercism implemented routing strategies, such as consolidating mongos routers onto a few hosts to reduce connections to mongod shards, and developed a shard replacement process that allows for dynamic migration of servers while minimizing customer-facing impact.
