I've long been a fan of using IFTTT as a quick and easy way to automate my home/life by connecting cloud and IoT services, which enables me to control various devices remotely. The author uses MongoDB Stitch to create an automated system that not only fetches weather data from DarkSky.net but also controls the humidity level in their study based on the temperature and humidity sensor readings from an ElectricImp IoT device. A Stitch function is created to analyze the data and decide whether to turn a humidifier on or off, which triggers an IFTTT Maker service webhook to send a request to control a smart plug using TP-Link Kasa IFTTT service, thereby automating the process of controlling the study's humidity level based on real-time weather conditions.
