MongoDB users have been deploying clusters for critical workloads, with environments including globally distributed cloud clusters, on-premises clusters, and edge clusters. Keeping data in sync across these diverse environments is challenging due to the need for support for globally distributed hybrid data clusters, continuous synchronization, and resumability. Cluster-to-Cluster Sync is a new feature that solves this challenge by providing unidirectional data synchronization between two MongoDB clusters, allowing users to control the synchronization process and monitor progress in real-time. The feature is now available as part of MongoDB 6.0 and requires mongosync for data movement between clusters.
