MongoDB 3.4 is an updated version of the database platform that makes it more flexible and easier to work with, allowing developers to consolidate multiple use cases into their MongoDB deployment. The new release adds features such as faceted search, graph queries, and improved string handling, while also enhancing financial calculations with a Decimal data type. Additionally, MongoDB 3.4 introduces a ground-up rewrite of the Business Intelligence connector, improves performance and simplifies installation and configuration for Windows users, and extends support to ARM-64, IBM's POWER8 and zSeries platforms, as well as MongoDB Compass, an enterprise-grade tool for data manipulation and performance tuning. The release also includes new features such as tunable consistency control, collations, and read-only views, which enable organizations to bring field-level security to their applications handling regulated data.
