Secure Atlas Metrics with AWS PrivateLink for Prometheus
Blog post from MongoDB
MongoDB has enhanced its observability capabilities by integrating AWS PrivateLink with MongoDB Atlas, allowing Prometheus collectors to securely scrape metrics from Atlas dedicated clusters. This integration offers organizations a more secure and efficient way to monitor their deployments by keeping metric data within the AWS network, ensuring compliance and reducing security risks. AWS PrivateLink simplifies network management by eliminating the complexities of VPC peering, providing a direct private connection that avoids CIDR overlap and routing challenges while ensuring predictable performance with regional scoping capabilities. This feature supports seamless integration with existing observability workflows and is compatible with infrastructure as code practices using MongoDB Atlas Public API and Terraform. The new capability is designed to be easy to adopt, allowing users to configure Prometheus scrape settings through the MongoDB Atlas UI, and supports Atlas dedicated instances, including sharded clusters, reinforcing MongoDB Atlas's position as a secure and enterprise-ready data platform.
