MongoDB Announces Leadership Transition

Dev Ittycheria, the President and CEO of MongoDB, announced his decision to retire, with Chirantan “CJ” Desai set to take over the role on November 10, 2025. Ittycheria's departure stems from a personal decision not to extend his tenure for another five years, believing it is the right time for a leadership change to guide MongoDB through its next phase, known as MongoDB 3.0. The search for a successor, initially expected to take up to two years, concluded swiftly with the selection of Desai, whose extensive experience in scaling companies and transforming them into platform entities positions him as the ideal candidate. Desai's previous roles at ServiceNow and Cloudflare underscore his capability to lead MongoDB's growth amidst the rise of AI and data-intensive applications. Ittycheria will remain on the Board and assist with the transition, expressing confidence in MongoDB's strategic direction and the team's ability to capitalize on upcoming innovations.
