During the COVID-19 pandemic, the MongoDB Campus Team conducted its first virtual recruitment season, including onboarding interns remotely for the Sydney Storage Engines Team. The interns, hailing from various universities and studying fields such as software engineering and computer science, shared their experiences of working in a hybrid environment, the supportive company culture, and the impactful projects they undertook, including contributions to the WiredTiger storage engine. They highlighted the strong mentorship and collaborative work culture at MongoDB, which was felt even through virtual interactions. Additionally, MongoDB is undergoing a leadership transition with Dev Ittycheria retiring as CEO and Chirantan "CJ" Desai set to take over, promising to continue the company's growth trajectory. The transition is positioned as a strategic step to usher in a new era, dubbed MongoDB 3.0, with a focus on leveraging AI and data-intensive applications to enhance MongoDB's market position.
