MongoDB has announced significant updates to its Atlas platform and a leadership transition. At .local NYC, MongoDB introduced the Query Insights feature in Atlas, enhancing database performance monitoring by providing developers with in-depth, actionable insights into query performance and namespace metrics. This feature aims to optimize database performance and reduce troubleshooting time, ultimately improving developer productivity. MongoDB also unveiled the public preview of Atlas Edge Server, which extends its capabilities to edge computing environments, allowing for local data processing and management to improve latency, security, and resilience. In a separate announcement, MongoDB's CEO Dev Ittycheria will retire effective November 10, 2025, with Chirantan “CJ” Desai succeeding him. CJ brings extensive experience, having significantly contributed to the growth of ServiceNow and Cloudflare, making him well-suited to lead MongoDB into its next phase of growth. Dev Ittycheria expressed confidence in CJ's ability and highlighted MongoDB's strong position to capitalize on the rise of AI and data-intensive applications.
