Analyze Query Shapes With MongoDB and Datadog
Blog post from MongoDB
In July 2025, MongoDB announced the integration of Query Shape Insights from MongoDB Atlas into Datadog, facilitating enhanced visibility into query performance for enterprise customers. This integration addresses the demand for centralized monitoring by enabling the tracking of detailed query performance metrics directly within Datadog, an observability platform widely used by MongoDB customers. Previously, users had to switch between MongoDB Atlas and Datadog to monitor performance, which created inefficiencies. The new capability provides seamless integration of query shape metrics, allowing for unified visibility and enabling teams to correlate database activity with application and infrastructure signals. MongoDB ensures sensitive information remains protected by hashing query shapes, while the integration remains flexible and opt-in by default. By collaborating with Datadog, MongoDB aims to empower IT and engineering teams to optimize databases, maintain high availability, and ensure smooth user experiences without disrupting existing workflows.
