Summary

AI coding agents now constitute nearly half of all documentation traffic, with Claude Code and Cursor accounting for 95% of this share, significantly impacting how documentation is consumed. Analyzing 30 days of traffic data from Mintlify-powered documentation sites using Cloudflare user-agent headers, it was found that AI agents account for 45.3% of requests, nearly equaling human browser traffic at 45.8%. Notably, Claude Code alone generated more requests than Chrome on Windows, highlighting the growing importance of AI in accessing documentation. This trend suggests that documentation must cater to both human and machine audiences, emphasizing structured, comprehensive, and machine-readable content to facilitate AI agents in generating or fixing code in real-time. As AI coding agents increasingly shape the documentation landscape, ensuring consistent formatting, accurate code examples, and thorough error documentation becomes crucial for effective interaction with these tools.
