Metabase 58 introduces a streamlined approach to embedding options aimed at simplifying user choices and enhancing ease of use. The update maintains compatibility with existing embeds, requiring no changes for current users, while new embeddings will adopt either Modular or Full-app Embedding. Modular Embedding offers flexibility with options for Guest embedding, which doesn’t require Metabase accounts, and SSO embedding, which grants users full access to Metabase features through authentication with their identity provider. It also features an in-app wizard for easy setup and a smoother transition from Guest to SSO embedding. The update includes a React SDK for those using the framework, enabling a seamless upgrade path and unlocking additional customization and self-service analytics capabilities. The transition to Metabase 58 aims to address previous confusion around embedding options and provide a more straightforward, cohesive experience for users.
