Introducing The OpenMemory Chrome Extension
Blog post from Mem0
Mem0 has introduced the free OpenMemory Chrome Extension, a client-side memory layer designed to preserve and share user context across browser-based AI assistants including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and Gemini. The extension analyzes user prompts to identify relevant facts, preferences, and project details, stores them as structured memories locally in the browser, and automatically incorporates applicable context into later prompts; Claude requires manual activation through a button or Ctrl+M shortcut. Users can import existing ChatGPT memories and manage all saved information through an OpenMemory dashboard that supports viewing, searching, editing, and deletion. By allowing preferences, work roles, writing styles, and project context to move between AI tools, OpenMemory aims to reduce repetitive prompting and produce more personalized, consistent responses while keeping memory portable and user-controlled.
