How Sunflower Scaled AI Support To 80K Users With Mem0 Memory
Blog post from Mem0
Sunflower, a digital health platform supporting addiction recovery through habit tracking, CBT-based interventions, and an AI companion, integrated Mem0 to address its companion’s inability to retain context across more than 20,000 daily messages. Previously, stateless sessions required users to repeat personal information and forced engineers to include full chat histories in prompts, increasing costs and latency while making an internal memory system costly to build. Mem0 was integrated in one day and provided persistent user-specific memory, automatic summarization, and retrieval of relevant context without custom infrastructure. Sunflower reports reducing token usage by roughly 70–80% and saving an estimated three to four weeks of engineering work, while users responded positively to more personalized conversations, reminders, and coaching that adapts to changing goals, patterns, and relapse triggers.
