The Pista ng Mapa conference, held virtually in the Philippines alongside OSM GeoWeek, showcases the power of global collaboration through OpenStreetMap (OSM), particularly highlighting the detailed mapping efforts in Lupang Arenda, an urban village near Metro Manila. This initiative involved local mappers, drone pilots, government workers, and Mapbox, who worked together to create precise maps that aid in land registration and community planning. The effort began when Mapbox's team in Minsk flagged suspicious edits on OSM, leading to the removal of personal data and collaboration with local mappers to enhance mapping accuracy with drone imagery. The imagery, processed and shared on OpenAerialMap, has become the default base layer for the area, enabling accurate building mapping and supporting community initiatives. The project exemplifies how OSM facilitates collaboration and innovation, inspiring further mapping activities and community engagement.
